Happy Labor Day! Let's "Walk Across America together!


Good Morning and Happy Labor Day!
I've enjoyed the check-ins this week - some of my favorite quotes are noted at the end of this note.  Each time you check in, share your progress and insights, frustrations and triumphs!  And, as always, thanks for the many referrals!  It's really fun to engage with your families/friends and help you strengthen the support network around you.

Upcoming Activities:
9/12/13 Help us "Walk Across America!"  Wherever you are, map out a mile, let me know you plans, register it with TSFL, and take a walk (rain or shine!) by yourself or with friends anytime on on Thursday, Sept 12th.  I want photos!!!!  Contact me to learn about our Fairview plan.

9/12/13 is National "Discover Your Optimal Health" Day!!! You guys, this is us! You and me!!!  Many of our team members are holding a "Healthy Happy Hour" that evening in addition to organizing a walk.  If you are in the Portland metro area, please consider joining us at our home at 7pm that evening ... Dr Cosmo Sallibello will be here to share his story and speak about the effects of nutrition on eye health!

September is National Childhood Obesity Awareness Month ... we can each do our part to promote healthy eating, activity, and attitudes to prevent what has become an epidemic and life-sentence for many sweet, young kiddos!  Click Here to read more.

  • Discover Your Optimal HealthDr A's recent book hit the NY Times best seller list last month ... Consider adding it to your next order.
  • Check out the webinars on TSFL for clients and coaches ... there are live broadcasts weekly and the recordings can be accessed at this site.
  • Each time you get an order, you receive a flier entitled, "Support for your Journey" ... read it over, keep it handy, and make sure you are using all of the tools!  Let me know which tools are working the best for you and which ones you'd like more info on. (I've attached a copy of the flier).
My Personal Insight this week:  It's not about "the food" ... it's about the Program, Habits of Health, and daily BESLIM rhythm.
 
In the coaching process, I learn so much from clients who are in the various stages of weight loss and health gain.  It's helpful for me to remember that that I'm a coach not a counselor ... my gift and goal is to run along side you as you pursue YOUR vision of optimal health and well-being. We start where you are and go where you want to go. Together, we use the tools provided by TSFL and Dr Andersen to recognize where we are and where we want to go, what we want and what we are willing to do to get there.  The motivation is from within, it's intrinsic and personal.

I just wanted the fat OFFFF!  I didn't realize how good I was going to feel being on program! I hadn't realized how much pain I'd been in or how crabby I'd been and many sick days I'd taken because of the weight I'd been carrying around.
 
I had been missing life ... now, I'm all in!!!!  (We are all in too!)  

By the way, the very best exercise is ... The one you will do!
Chapters 13-16 in Dr A's Habits of Health are all about movement, activity and exercise. Start by reading the story of Emily Preator on page 169, then find "The Habits of Motion" on page 171.  In our household, I've been half-heartedly jogging for years ... half heartedly because it's something Greg does not enjoy and is not interested in doing with me ... however (drum roll please!), our grandkids left a red ball here and Greg and I have been out kicking it back and forth around our neighborhood - what a hoot!  This way, Greg is out laughing and "playing" with me and we are both working up a sweat!!  What game can you play, what dance or activity can you engage in that's really fun, gets you moving, and raises your heart rate?  Ooooohhhh, now you're thinkin!
