Day 22 of 30 Days of Hope and Inspiration: My Husband didn't Recognize Me!

“My own husband didn’t recognize me!”

Stacy Wheeler’s husband was overseas when she lost 45 lbs* and when he got home, he couldn’t believe his eyes.

Stacy says, “I wanted to lose weight and regain my confidence. With the extra weight, I had a difficult time keeping up with my three children, and I felt like I had almost no energy. I was ill at ease and didn’t feel comfortable having much of a social life. I also struggled with depression.”
Like most of us, Stacy had tried several times to lose weight, but other diets and other weight-loss plans didn’t work for her. She felt too hungry and couldn’t stick to them. Then she talked to a friend of hers, another mom who had struggled with her weight since having children. She had gotten healthier with Take Shape For Life and the Medifast 5 & 1 Plan, which motivated Stacy to give it a try.
She says, “I saw results right away, and lost 4 lbs my first week! Every week thereafter, I lost 2 lbs. That was so motivating for me: I ended up losing 45 lbs in 3½ months!*”
At the time, Stacy’s husband was overseas with the military. “When he came home, he didn’t recognize me,” she says. “I hadn’t told him I was on the plan, and I was skinnier than I’d ever been before, and my family and friends were thrilled for me.”
Stacy says that because she got weight-loss results so quickly, it took her emotions a while to catch up. While being professionally photographed soon after her weight loss, Stacy noted that although everyone was telling her she looked terrific, inside she still felt shy and a bit uneasy being in the spotlight.
“Sometimes we can be too hard on ourselves,” Stacy, who is now a TSFL Health Coach says. “Today I’m focusing on positive thinking, and reminding my Clients to do the same. When we keep our eyes on the progress that we’ve made, and give ourselves permission not to be perfect all the time, our minds can start to get as healthy as our bodies.”
These days, Stacy surrounds herself with supportive people in her Bio-network, and her confidence is growing—as her figure stays petite and healthy.

Working as a Health Coach and raising three kids is great motivation for Stacy to stick with good eating habits and build on other Habits of Health. She says, “I work out as long as I want, and can jump on the trampoline with my children. I feel comfortable enough to go to the beach in a bathing suit. I’m not depressed anymore!”
