All I Want for Christmas ...

"All I Want for Christmas ... " 
I'm hearing "that" song and thinking about what I really want and wondering if it is in alignment with what you want too.

I'd like a little more time:
  • to explore my creative talents ... maybe I'll make a few gifts?
  • to be present with my kids and grandbabies ... to just laugh and play, share love and make memories!
  • to be prepared with healthy snacks and meals so I don't get caught in a hungry, vulnerable moment, then stuff myself and slide up a notch in my belt buckle.
My Solution: 
I hereby acknowledge that I've been a workaholic and will take better care of MYSELF from this moment forward!!! I don't have to wait until "after the holidays" or January 1st!!

After Thanksgiving!

'Twas the day after Thanksgiving and all through the house, machines - dishwasher, washer & drier, and vacuum - are running to help me reclaim cleanliness and order! 

Thankfully, my inner machinery is doing the same.  I'm helping it by drinking lots of water, munching on celery and being mindful about what I eat! We have so much to be grateful for ... yep, I've got a system of healthy habits that will help me stay healthy for life, but even more important, I have resources and friendships that support, cheer, and sustain me.  Thank you! Thank you for your trust, your determination, your business, and your referrals!!!

I'm looking forward to hearing from you this week.

If you are having trouble keeping the pounds off in maintenance - I really, REALLY want to chat with you!!! Greg and I continue to fight this battle and find ways to stay slim with ease. Let's talk!

Just a few moments ago, I was chatting with a relatively new client. When he started the Program several months ago, in order to get through doorways, he had to go sideways.  He was miserable and just wanted less pain and more life!  Today, he told me the following:
 
"People are starting to call me 'skinny!' I've melted 56 pounds off and have 100 more to go until I can have my knee surgery! The success rate of knee replacement is <5% at my original weight and I could lose my leg if surgery wasn't successful. When I get down to a healthier size, the success rate for the type of knee surgery I need is up to 92%.  I can hardly wait to begin walking my dogs again.  I have so much more energy now, I can breath again, and all my clothes are getting baggy!"

Another client shared the following: 

"It costs money to be on program ... but I found that we spent more on groceries and fast food meals when we weren't on Program.  Besides, I hated the medical and medication bills!!!"

It's Turkey Time!

Good Morning Fellow Take Shapers!
We're coming through an interesting season and it's time to remind ourselves to be compassionate and patient with ourselves!

Quick Questions:
  • How was your week on program?
  • Are you in an active weight loss, transition, or maintenance phase?
  • Have you made a temporary U-Turn into fat storage again?

​There's a part of me that wants things to happen more quickly, with more clarity, tangible results, and less angst.  Does this resonate with you too?  Why is it surprising to me that every time I try to "row upstream" or ​"grasp at straws," I find myself more distracted and further away from "home?"  As I refocus, I realize how blessed I am in this moment, recognize the creative energies all around me, and relax into life as it is unfolding.  You are part of that blessing.  I'm happy to be on this journey with you and to be serving you!

My hours have changed:
Tuesday has opened up as my primary coaching day - let me know what 15-30 min time slot you would like.  Please text me any time and call anytime if you are feeling frustrated or stuck.  Also, when you are new or doing a restart, chatting daily is still the way to go!

Why Referrals are important:
The best thing about giving and receiving referrals is that it means you are using the Medifast foods and BeSlim program as a tool to help you, are feeling a level of control and success and are wanting others to experience the hope you have found.

Having friends, family members, and coworkers doing the program with you, like any good buddy system, supports YOU, builds a buffer around YOU, and contributes to YOUR success.

Making referrals helps me to know and serve you better too.  Keep up the good work!

What to Listen for:
  • I don't have anything to wear!
  • The holidays stress me out.
  • I'm afraid to go to the doctor
  • This weather makes me blue - feeling chubby and being obese are key factors in depression, fear of going outdoors, and the vicious cycle of eating for comfort.
  • My father just had a ________ - fill in the blank here - so many chronic and acute illnesses are a complication of obesity.

Take Good Care of Yourself!

Good Morning Take Shapers!
We will get through Thanks Giving and all the holiday parties, bazaars, family gatherings, and potentially high stress / rich food encounters! ... How are you doing??? I love getting your photos and hearing your news ... Check-in, call, text, and e-mail me frequently, especially through the upcoming holidays. 

Take good care of yourself:
Everything I read reminds me that I can't control the outcome or guarantee the results ...  the only things I have any control over are the goals I've set and the baby-steps I take daily. Here's what successful clients tell me they do to help keep themselves on track:
  • I stay focused on the process and let Dr Andersen help me.
  • Put one of Dr A's books in a place where I can read a page or two every day.  
  • Give myself the gift of grace by making healthy choices with my food, activities and self-talk!  
  • Choose to hang out with positive friends and family members ... this is a hard one!  
  • Take of moment to think about my personal vision and goals each day - once before bed and once upon arising.  
  • Keep picturing what it feels like to be my preferred slim and strong self.

Dr Andersen just sent us Four ways to give health for the holidays ... We can do this! As I've said before, sharing the program helpsyou stay accountable and focused. Read more in Dr A's Habits of Health, chapter 18, on "Building Your Support System: the Keystone to Optimal Health."  Keep in mind that we are after long-term, sustainable health and well-being.

I blew my doctor out of the water!  My weight is down, my blood pressure is normal, and my A1C is down to normal for the first time since being diagnosed with diabetes six years ago.  My doctor told me I can go off my meds as long as I continued to take such good care of myself.  She said she rarely ever takes people off medications and she is thrilled!
Everyone was amazed when I showed up at Thanks Giving ... I have five more referrals for you and we are really celebrating the opportunity to be coaching each other ... I think I'm finally ready to talk about becoming a coach ... the timing is so right!!

Good Health is Contagious!

Ever notice that good health is contagious?
Once we've made the decision to be and stay healthy, it's as if the entire Universe conspires to assist us.  The reverse is also true.  Next time you hear someone complaining about their health, look at the friends and family members.  I've found that, just as misery loves company, friends with poor health seem to be surrounded by others with worse health. 

I don't think these means that we desert those dear ones who are struggling.  I'm just certain that deciding to be healthy, surround myself with others who value emotional, social, and physical health, and standing up for happiness is an essential piece to my well-being.

Which came first, the Chicken or the C-pap machine?


Sometimes I wonder how many people actually sit around thinking of different ways to ask the question, "Which came first, the chicken or the egg?"  I ran across the following article that is supposed to show that "obstructive sleep apnea appears to boost peoples craving for carbohydrates."   

I myself see it the other way around ... I feel that it was my cravings for carbohydrates that boosted my weight, led to high blood pressure and put me in need of a c-pap machine.  That was before I decided to do something about my cravings and lose weight.

One final thought, most of dis-comfort and dis-ease I've faced in my life has come from the choices I've made ... So, perhaps the real question for the authors of the article below is "Which came first, the Choice or the Consequence?"  Have a Great Day!  Greg.
